DIPLOMA IN IT ( COMPUTER & NETWORK SUPPORT TECHNICIAN )
INTRODUCTION
Diploma in Information Technology (Computer Support & Network Technician) provides the skills and knowledge an individual will need to be competent in the management and maintenance of computer systems, both the hardware and software. Students will be exposed to the fundamentals of IT concepts, maintaining and troubleshooting of hardware and network systems, and hands-on skills to various popular operating systems.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 credits in SPM / ‘O’ level / Senior Middle 3 or equivalent, with a credit in English.
- Applicants with less than 3 credits in SPM / ‘O’ level / Senior Middle 3 or other equivalent qualification will be required to sit for an entry test.
- Mature applicants (above 21 years) with minimum of one SPM credit or other equivalent qualification will not be required to sit for the entry test.
- Applicants do not need to have prior computing knowledge.
COURSE’S AIMS
This course is designed to meet the following:-
• Provide a high level coverage of networking principles and an appreciation of the emerging issues and technologies in networks, together with specific competencies (industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA & CCNP and Microsoft MCSE).
• Provide the necessary skills to troubleshoot and maintain computer hardware in a networked environment.
• Provide and develop student’s self-confidence in delivering presentations and engage in dynamic teamwork projects.
• Provide practical exposure to the popular network operating system.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On completion of this program, graduates will be able to pursue a career in almost all of today’s businesses since most companies would have a range of network-based application running practically all aspects of their businesses. Graduates will be able to work as computer technicians, call centre executives, network system technicians, support centre executives and computer trainees.
